Gujarat was formed out of the 17 northern districts of former State of Bombay. Like all other states of India, Gujarat
is governed by a Chief Minister and a council of other ministers
responsible to an elected unicameral legislature and by a Governor
appointed by the President of India. The Chief Minister is the head of
the government and is vested with most of the executive powers.
Gujarat Legislative Assembly has 182 members elected by a popular vote conducted by the Election Commission of India. The state has been divided into 25 districts for administrative purpose. Gujarat
is a prosperous state performing stable governance over decades. With
the advancement of computer and information technology, the state has
initiated e-Governance in sectors like legislature, judiciary, or administration for improving internal efficiency in public services.
